I am new to gardening and new to blogs. But here goes. I planted acorn squash and I have a good crop. I have been picking and enjoying the dark green ones. My problem is that I have lots of very large acorn squash that look mature but they remain a bright yellow. Are they ripe or will they eventually turn green?
Thanks for any help. :)

Hi all, I'm new here. My name is Jonah and I'm having some issues with my rasberries. I live in the Napa Valley and we did have quite a bit more rain this winter than usual. The problem seems to me to be vascular, but I'm not sure. The leaves at the top of the vines are turning reddish brown and crumpling up. The berries are also maturing normally, but when they start getting out of their pink hue into red, sections will turn white. They were planted last spring and are facing south-ish. They have mulch around them and get about 3 to 4 gallons of water per week. Am I over watering? They weren't incredibly happy last year, but nothing like this. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Sorry, all I have right now is cell phone pictures. Thanks in advance.

I have been gardening for years. Easy stuff mostly but find that since I have moved to my new Michigan home I can not get zucchini to grow! I have had zuccs for years and they usually overpower the need. I have sandy, well drained soil that we are amending more each year. Everything else is growing well including yellow squash! It isn't great but we are getting some. The zuccs are healthy plants with lots of male flowers and I have seen starts of the female flowers with the tiny zucc. These female flowers are not opening up! I have never found a mature one, only the very tiny buds. And not one single zucchini! Is it my soil? Does it hate acid soil? We have lots of oaks and pines and even put oak leaves on the garden in the winter. We have bees and there is a sprinkler system. I thought maybe the water was clumping the pollen but the yellow squash is making it as well as cucumbers and tomatoes. The female flower just never gets to a stage that I can even self pollinate them. Any help is appreciated. This is the second year of no zucchini. I am very frustrated and can not seem to find anything on line about this issue.

My question is this
Everybody knows that when you pee on youre mound of rotting vegitation that it helps it along So if chopt up vegitation is allowed to float in urine for months on end does this make the liquid when diluted good or bad for plants?
Does it A feed them the goodness it has taken from the rotting veg or
B Rot there roots with the same style as it has the veg before it
I Realise the compost on completion is Mixed in with the soil and not applied neat, For the same resons i imagine.
